Before You Begin

Welcome to UNH!
The Student IT Guide was designed to provide UNH students with a roadmap for campus computing resources. In this guide you will find information on how to connect to the UNH Network, a list of computing services and resources, Blackboard-relevant information, basic troubleshooting assistance, and other information to enhance your computing experience at UNH.
Who We Are
Computing & Information Services (CIS) provides IT services and support for the entire UNH community, including students, faculty, and staff. We assist UNH students in their pursuit of higher education by offering a wide-range of services, including high-speed internet (both wireless and Ethernet), course management software, and telephone services, to name a few. We offer students IT support via phone, online, and in person to help resolve computing and phone issues.
How to reach us for support
- In person Visit the IT Support Center in Dimond Library or the Computer Service Center in the Memorial Union Building.
- Via phone Call the CIS Help Desk at 862-4242.
- Online Fill out a support request form.
Before You Get Started
Things you will need
- Ethernet cable (25’ maximum) to get online in your dorm room (available at UNH Computer Store)
- A corded phone for your dorm room (cordless phones not recommended)
- Bring any software that came with your computer, in the event that you need to rebuild your computer.
- Leave your personal wireless router at home. They are forbidden at UNH.
Things to do
- If you haven’t already, download McAfee VirusScan for free.
- Update your operating system.
- Sign-up with the UNH Alert system. This system alerts you to campus-wide emergencies by sending a message to your cell phone and E-mail.
