Before You Get Started

Things to Do Before You Arrive

• Set up your WildcatsMail. Find instructions here.
• Visit the UNH Computer Store for information on the computer, software, and accessories suggested for your major.
• If you haven’t already, download antivirus software for free.
• Update your operating system with the latest updates.
• Sign-up with the UNH Alert system. This system alerts you to campus-wide emergencies by sending a message to your cell phone and email.

Things You Will Need for Your Dorm Room

• Ethernet cable (25’ maximum) to get online in your dorm room (available for purchase at the UNH Computer Store)
• Bring any software that came with your computer, in the event that you need to rebuild your computer.
• You may wish to bring a cell phone. There is one courtesy phone in each residence hall.
• A surge protector.
• Leave your personal wireless router at home since they are not allowed under the Acceptable Use Policy for Information Technology Resources at UNH.
